Sleeper reservations with rail pass?

Hi all!
Me and a friend are going to travel around in the UK with a InterRail pass for a week in August. The plan is to take the Caledonian Sleeper up to Inverness, and then slowly work our way south during the week.

Now I need some advice. What is the easiest way to reserve a sleeping compartment (without a ticket) for the sleeper in advance? I really don't want to chance it and try to reserve once we get to London, and I also assume it will be a bit cheaper if I reserve in advance?

You will need to buy a supplement for the sleeper. Call Scotrail Telesales on 08457 55 00 33 (+44 1752 675670 from outside the UK).

The supplement is £40.20 for a shared berth or £57.20 for solo berth. There is no discount on the supplement for booking early, but check to see if any "Bargain Berth" tickets are available (prices start at £19) as these may be cheaper than the supplement.

Bargain berths are only available online via http://tickets.scotrail.co.uk/sr/en/journeyplanning/mixingdeck but the supplements are not available online so you need to call to get one.

The supplement can also be bought at any UK station, but advance booking is recommended to ensure a berth is available.

The berth supplement is currently £41.80 per adult (standard class) or £59.40 for solo occupancy of a double berth cabin (standard class). A single berth (first class) is £47.30.

I'm not certain if telesales will sell the supplement and berth reservation if there is no ticket for travel.

The OP has an Interrail pass so they will quite happily sell the supplement over the phone without seeing it.

I wasn't certain if the op had the interail pass, or merely intended to use one, however the question asked was:

Different interpretation to mine I guess, as I understood that to mean he doesn't have one to show on demand as he is abroad.

All academic really as telesales will sell them if informed that an Interrail pass will be used.
