If Scotrail and the Sleeper are going to be run by 2 different companies (not saying it will be) what happens to the maintenance of the sleeper. Do they have to employ guys and rent some maintenance depot space in the areas it terminates. There is talk of all the maintenance getting done in London. I as because I am considering transferring my job and this will effect me. I don’t want paid off if the new Sleeper company decides to transfer operations elsewhere. I also wondered who cleans it when it terminates. Will they pay Scotrail to do it or will they hire a small squad to do it themselves and share the depot. Iv only been in the rail industry for 2 years that’s why I need an experienced head to advise me on this situation of sharing depots and work between two companies and how it works.

Hi

In the ScotRail ITT, depending on what the bidder decides to do with the Sleepers, ScotRail will have to provide room /access to the Depot and service them should it be required.

I can't see Transport Scotland being happy to see people losing their jobs (lots of bad press), so I'm sure you would be transferred.

I have no insider knowledge, but I can see the contradiction that it may be easier for operational reasons to do all maintenance in London (since all locos/ coaches are going to be in London regularly, regardless of whether the stock from one portion of the southbound "Highland" works the same journey northbound, or goes onto the "Lowland"), but Transport Scotland aren't going to be happy with jobs leaving Scotland!
