Hi,
I am aware that the Flexipass ticket is transferable between different passengers but are they able to travel on the same train.
I am arranging for a group of 10 to go golfing and we are considering the sleeper. Can all 10 travel together on a Flexipass on the same train.
Or is there a discount for 10 passengers that is less than Flexipass.
Thank you
A 10 Journey Caledonian Sleeper Flexipass costs £1025, for 10 Single journeys, within a 1st Class berth, on all Caledonian Sleeper routes.
If your golfing, I am going to assume it is somewhere over on the east coast such as Old Course at St Andrews (closest station is Leuchars).
So for a return trip for 10 people to Leuchars, purchasing Flexipasses, it would work out to be 2x £1025= £2050. So that works out at £205.00 per person.
At present I haven't managed to locate any further information, within the FRPP (Online Fares Manual), on whether the Flexipass is transferable enough, for everybody to travel on the same train. However what I have been able to find out, is that for groups of 10 or more travelling on the Caledonian Sleeper, First Scotrail give a 20% discount on full First Class and Standard Class dedicated fares. So going through the options, if your group would be willing to share cabins (two persons to one cabin), then you could purchase twenty (ten each way) Standard Class Sleeper Singles Route Cal Sleeper discounted to £49.60 per person (so £99.20 return).
The cheapest 1st Class option (if the Flexipasses are not transferable onboard the same train service) is to purchase twenty (again ten each way) 1st Sleeper Singles Route Cal Sleeper. These are discounted to £108.80 per person (so £217.60 return per person). Obviously you could also mix and match, so travel one way 1st Class and one way standard by purchasing a 1st Class Single in one direction and a Standard Class Single in the other. This would work out at £49.60 + £108.80 = £158.40 return per person.
All the Sleeper Singles Routed "Cal Sleeper" are berth inclusive and thus are the full fare including rail travel, berth from Euston to Leuchars and even London Underground travel in Zones 1 and 2, before and after travel on the Sleeper from Euston.
Your best bet if you want a definitive answer on the Flexipass option, is to ring or email First Scotrail Customer Relations, as at present there is no official information located within the FRPP, but considering the First Class option with two singles is only £217.60 return per person and this includes Zones 1 and 2 London Underground travel (usual cost £5.60) as well, it may not even be worth the hassle.
