Slaithwaite H, Huddersfield

Bit of an off topic subject here but information as to what this area is like as im hoping to move to the area soon so all veiws count and are apreciated.

Well I purposefully avoided going to uni in Huddersfield and went to Sheffield instead...

I just thought Huddersfield had nothing really going on, a bit run down in places etc...

Quite nice places, although some bits can be a bit run down, but you find that everywhere. Huddersfield is a nice station, lots of units but not much freight. If you can, take a trip on the Penistone Line, one of the nicest rides in the Huddersfield area. Huddersfield as a town is alright, good slection of pubs if you like that sort of thing.

As for Slaithwaite, haven't stopped off there yet but looks a nice place. I'd like to get a pciture of the viaduct one day.

If you have a bit of time you could always go to the buffet at Stalybridge. Get a pie, black peas and a pint. Well worth the trip.

I've just passed through it !
Well I actually like its very distinctive buildings - the large pale-brick built blocks in complete contrast to the rolling and unstructured landscape. But the best thing for me is the hills and valleys around the town - and in some directions they go on for miles. Still snow on some of them today.

Thanks people Ive been to Huddersfiled quite a number of times mostly the station though and Sainsburys and yeh does seem like as nice town thogh always nice to hear other peoples opinions.

Think the best bits of Huddersfield are just outside the town, the closest stations on the Penistone line always look nice, like at Lockwood.

I thought it Slath -wit? Well, that's how the conductor pronounced it once. Also pronounced Marsden without the 'r'.

Well, I refuse to call it Slough-it, and probably the conductor can't bring his or herself to call it that ridiculous name too. Good on them I say!
