Sky+HD in another room

Basically I have one Sky+ HD box connected to my 3DTV via HDMI cable.

I have an older TV in my bedroom with no HDMI ports, only SCART.

I can't run any Cat5/6 cabling or coax between the two due to very thick walls, and the fact my landlord would go ape.

I therefore need a wireless video/audio sending solution that I can attach to my old TV with SCART, (whilst keeping my brand new 3DTV connected via HDMI). I don't need multiroom. I don't need to be able to watch multiple channels at once.

Does anyone know of any device that is simple to set up, performs well with good output and is able to communicate over 10-15metres with thick walls?

Looking at no more than £75.

If you could use Cat5e/6 (though I'm not sure you can) then a home plug network adaptor would work for what you are wanting

Afraid not:

*Not IrDA - This will not relay remote signals for Sky+/Sky HD or Cable Set Top Boxes

I find this kind of thing to be very hit and miss as to whether or not it works. The AV Forums may have more info.

i'm running one of these, not sure if it fits your requirements though. Can only watch whatever is being watched on main tv,

A homeplug is Ethernet over power, not "anything on cat5/6" over power. It wouldn't therefore work with one of the boxes that sends video over cat5/6. Something like a Slingbox COULD work on a homeplug, as these are designed to allow you to watch TV from your home remotely over the internet, but this is likely going to be a bit more complex and expensive a setup than the OP is after!


There are plenty of wireless video senders available at modest prices that work with SCART connectors although every one is different and it's hard to know how well they will work through thick walls. Some will send remote signals back if that is important to you.

Personally I would pick one up from a shop that it's easy to return things to and just give them a try.

Argos have a few, and they accept returns.
I have tried one in the past and the range was nothing like it was supposed to be.
