A relative is travelling on an off-peak service from Paddington in the early afternoon on Tuesday, they'll have a single ski bag between the two of them after a holiday.

Subject to space would this be allowed on the train?

Thanks in advance.

Speak to station staff and ask for it to be placed in a locked luggage cupboard (same size cupboard as bike storage).
Or, it may fit in the overhead racks?

The national conditions of service say its down to the TOC regarding carriage of skis. GWRs site does not even mention skis so just stow them safely.

I've got a feeling they stick to what is likely be taken onboard rather than have a huge list of every single item it's possible to have. I guess Skiing in the South West in the middle of summer isn't one that crops up too often. Now Surfboards or Wind Surfing gear on the other hand?

Overhead rack, easy. If they are fit enough to ski then they are probably fit enough to handle their skis on trains
better than many people with less cumbersome articles of luggage.

Is there a shortage of 802s?
We are having our annual holiday in Dawlish Warren and we've seen a good number of 800s daily including one 9 car 800 on Penzance to Paddington Monday we travelled on to Newton Abbot. Its mainly 9 car 800s seen but a few 5 cars too. Seen virtually no single 5 car sets though of either classes which is good.
