Actually yeah as al green says, I don't even need to move the road. There's a whopping great grass reserve. Would need to dig down a bit for clearances perhaps, but the space is there right into the town centre. New towns. Gotta love em.

If the bridge wasn't suitable to go over a railway, I imagine it also wouldn't be suitable to carry a six-lane motorway. It might need to be fitted with a plank of metal for the exhaust, but no major changes.

The feedback from forum members to the question on this thread has been quite revealing, which I expected it would be. I will be most interested to read what the £150,000 feasibility study by "the retained professionals" has to say on the matter when their report is submitted.

With Lancashire County Council being involved financially in a replacement bus station for Preston should that need arise (a matter that brought forward many postings on this forum on that thread), it appears that the scheme on this thread may well have financial implications for them. I wonder how much of their annual budget is dedicated to transport matters.
