Am I right to believe that the Arriva depot in Skelmersdale closed towards the end of last year? If yes, does this mean that buses no longer make the interesting diversion there (which allowed passengers the opportunity to see inside the depot facility)?

A pity if so - I will probably be travelling on the 375/385 later this month and would have been looking forward to that...

One company in Warwickshire have a route (service x20) that occasionally visits the depot for driver changeover.

I remember the Arriva Skelmersdale depot, before its closure, being one of the two depots where services I have used, that called into, en route. The 375/385/395 services from either Wigan or Southport....the other being the former Trent Barton Dove Holes depot, now used by High Peak, where the 199 service called occasionally. Always something out of the normal run-of-the-mill service to brighten up the day.

I think three other Arriva depots were given responsibility for the former Skelmersdale depot routes, dependent where the areas served went to.

The depot is no longer - was being used for storage last time I passed.

The 375/385 is operated by Southport and St Helens Drivers now.

If you had the front seat upstairs when the bus used to divert into the depot you sometimes came face to face with staff in the offices as the buses parked so close

Stuart you are wrong.
The 385/375 are Southport Operated using ALX400 Volvo's ex Speke depot and the odd crappy Pulsar2 (not fit for purpose on the long routes and low vehicle quality)
The 395 is Operated by St Helens using Either Cadets,Pulsars B10BLE's or Darts this Interworks with the 352 to St Helens at Wigan.
St Helens Also operate the 312 but this has been Shortened to a Skem Local Route this is using a 12 Plate Solo SR or a Ex Manchester depot Solo.
The 311/345/350 are all operated by Bootle using the inherited Marshall darts or The X-ANC Darts that bootle have Although DafsAlx400 Pulsars Cadets can also be found on these routes at Peak times.
The 313 was Withdrawn and the 395 was sent around the sticks to compensate.
