Does any body in the know so to speak know if there going to replace some more of the jointed track on this line? I realise a big investment was made east of Boston but once you go west (no singing please) there a lot more jointed track which makes it painfully slow. Doing this journey today it seems speed limits have increased east of Boston.
I live in Heckington and so use the line frequently. The worse part and lowest speeds are between Sleaford and Allington junction where it is 50 mph. From Sleaford to Boston is 60 mph. Haven`t travelled east of Boston for ages so am not sure of the speeps there but it was said the aim was for 75 mph once track work was finished. Between Sleaford and Allington some cont welded track has been laid over the last few years but there are still sections of jointed rails, particlularly around Rauceby and nearer Allington. I often think that on the welded track drivers do exceed 50 mph a little but they slow for the jointed sections, excersing their own speed restructions.
Its also noticably that the timings for the HST`s to Skeggy are better this year than the last couple when they were heavily restricted east of Boston. Theres still far too much recovery time for the HST`s but then that can be found all the the system.
