I'm having a problem with SimSig Sheffield. When a train goes into Sheffield station the code of the train dissapears and you just have the red line to tell where the train is. The problem is that when a train pulls out of Sheffield instead of displaying the train code again it just displays **** . When I click on it it says timetable cannot be found. Any ideas??? Anyone else had this problem???

Interpose the new TD. In other words;

1) Press Ctrl+I.
2) In the pop-up window, type the new TD (eg. 1A09)
3) Press Enter/OK
4) There's your TD!

Are you signalling trains from 1 shunt signal to the next? If so, the headcode will disappear.

Yes that is when it dissapears. But when it re-appears thats when I get the ****
Unless you're shunting at Sheffield, when you're signalling a train from the mainlines into the platforms you should just use the main signals as you would on the main lines, ignore the shunt signals, they'll change themselves. Obviously also use that arrow thing when signalling into bays.

Thanks, that has solved my problem! I was using the shunt signals, I didn't know that you could by-pass them and just use the main ones.

I was also having a problem getting freight from The Dore Curve (coming towards Sheffield from Grindleford) on to the curve for the up lines to Chesterfield. To stop it blocking I keep having to alter the timetable and send it via Barrow Hill :lol:

Uhm. Why? The Dore Curve works perfectly well thanks, you just have to time it right, and often trains coming from Chesterfield to Sheffield are a couple of minutes early anyway so you have the right to stop them to keep the freight on time. Another thing is that if you have to keep a freight on the curve for a while until you find a path for it, the white path line goes when the train's been stopped for about half a minute...the Dore Curve's there for a reason and works fine with the timetables. Use it properly, it saves a lot of hastle...

you didn't read what I put, I can't seem to get the train on to the curve in the first place, says something like 'points locked normal'

1. If you signal it too late then you have to wait until the train's stopped and the white line has gone, then you can set it.
2. The Curve has a huge overlap onto the mainlines at either end, therefore the selective automatic signals must be cancelled on the Down Main at Dronfield, plus the ones on the Up Main at Dore South Junction.

If you need to use the shunt signals in the sheffield station area, interpose the TD onto the scratchpad until the train is at a main signal when you can give it back its correct TD.
You should also find this useful for trains that divide in the station area.

You could also find loads more bits of info in the forum at www.simsig.co.uk. I heard a whisper that there is a new version of sheffield due out soon.

Thanks for that! I wondered what the scratchpad was.

There is another scratchpad at Barrow Hill too, the shunt signals don't have train describers there too.
