Similar Stations

This game is similar to my last Quiz Forum thread, the Obscure Description thread. In this game, choose a station which is somehow linked to the previous answer (it can be as obvious or obscure as the poser wishes). The other people then have to identify the station, using the clues provided by the poser, and also identify the link between the two if possible (if he can't, then he only receives partial credit for being correct). Some "questions" may have more than one link to the previous station; if you can name more than one, please do! But only one is necessary.

An example:

Start with Ramsgate
Clue: "This station is the smaller of two very close-by stations in a large town in Greater Manchester."
Answer: Wigan Wallgate (both stations have "gate" in their name)

Again, let's see where this goes. And whether we can actually reach a second page this time :roll:

Start station: Cromer

This station is the last surviving of several stations in the city. It once had the suffix "High Street".

(The answer to this poser shares at least one interesting fact with Cromer. Once someone has provided the answer, and if possible at least one similarity with Cromer, they then think of a station linked to this one, and provide a description of it; and so on.)

Hold on a minute; what does Nottingham have to do with Cromer? The clue I gave is something that describes a new station, which is what you have to determine. That station has something similar about it to Cromer, but not what is suggested in the clue. I don't think I made it clear enough. Sorry

(By the way, an answer to your question would be Swindon, but I doubt it's the only one.)

Let me show you what I mean by answering my own teaser, and then providing another one.

This station is the last surviving of several stations in the city. It once had the suffix "High Street". The answer to this statement is Swansea. What does Swansea have to do with Cromer? Several things, such as being on the coast and having to reverse into and out of the station to serve it on a through journey. I then choose a station with something about it similar to Swansea, and provide a separate description of it, as follows (this is the next question, by the way):

This station is entirely underground, and shares its platforms with the local rapid transit station. It is an Open-Access terminus.

This one is pretty obvious. But this description is not true of Swansea; instead, there is something else that links Swansea with this new station.

Essentially:

Start with Station A. Write fact about Station B. Answer Station B. Station B is similar to Station A for a different reason, which is _____. Write a fact about Station C. Answer Station C. Station C is similar to Station B for a different reason, which is _____. And so on. There may be multiple reasons/stations!

(Again, sorry if I didn't make this clear.)

I do. Now, you have to say what links it to Swansea, and not the fact that they begin with the same letter, because that's just lame Then provide a new clue for a different station (which is not true of Sunderland). The new station must have some kind of link to Sunderland though, and we have to prove it.

Sunderland. Both start with the same letter(!), both have 4 platforms and are operated by regional operators.

This station is operated by one of an empire. It had three platforms, but only two are connected by a footbridge.

I will admit, it's a tough 'un! Think less about the station itself.

Limehouse - station shared by light rail and heavy rail on the same level (couldn't think of any other than those between Sunderland and Pelaw where heavy rail and light rail share the same platforms). However, if you count the Tube as light rail (technically it isn't) then Queen's Park.

Sunderland is the only one to share the same platforms as Northern don't stop at any of the other stations between Heworth and Sunderland. Before the extension was opened Newcastle - Sunderland services did stop at Brockley Whins, East Boldon and Seaburn.
