Signing Sub-Classes

Just curious is there places were drivers specifically sign for a sub-class rather than the entire class as a whole?

For example do the Norwich AGA drivers who sign the 37s specifically sign for 37/4s or can they drive any 37 now if required? I'm guessing bar the ETS controls there isn't much difference, although other classes and operators may have different bits on the various sub-classes.

I imagine that guards would have to sign 150 subclasses seperately, as they are quite different, not sure about the drivers though.

When the Euro spec 66's entered service with GBRf, drivers were required to sign the new variants as the controls and desk were different.

Still yet to drive one of the german ones in service but I do remember it taking some getting used to the differences at first, comes naturally now.

I signed both subclasses with one passout on a 150/2 noting the differences with a 150/1. As far as I know Guards were the same. Any other subclass I've been required to work had been covered with a written brief on the differences between the types.

At London Midland we have to sign 350/3s as a seperate to the rest of the fleet sue to a few differences on them from the remainder of the fleet.
