Signalling problems between Blackburn and Bolton resulted in there being delays of an hour or more during this morning's rush hour and no trains at all since soon after 10am. NRE doesn't go into any detail but is saying the problem won't be fixed until 1730.
Real Time Trains seems to be suggesting a track circuit failure may be the issue, although I know that isn't necessarily the case. However track circuit failures don't normally take so long to sort out, so I just wondered if anyone knows the nature of the problem. The issue seems to be at the Bromley Cross end, so I'm assuming that the recent upgrade and resignalling at Darwen isn't involved.
Apologies, I don't generally start 'why was I late for work' threads, but I wondered what the problem is!
