Signalling on the WCRM

I'm doing a project on the WCRM fiasco, does anyone know who has done the signalling work on that line since Network Rail took over? I know Westinghouse have a large (50% +) share of UK mainline signalling, have they done 50% of the work on the WCRM over the last 3 years?More? Less? Thanks

well i thought i'd try asking some people who might actually know what they were talking about first. plus, as a commercial entity, NR are not allowed to disclose the names of their suppliers...so any thoughts?

To be honest, it's more likely that they will actually be the only people who know because they drew up the contracts (assuming the work wasn't carried out "in house" by Nitwit Rail's engineers). Anything we might offer would just be a total guess which, depending on precisely what your project is and who it's for, might actually hinder you rather than help.

In any case, a quick trawl of the internet might be enough to throw up all you need. I've just tried a Google search and got over 500 hits (click for the results), some of which are more up-to-date than others and some that appear to have less bias than others.

There shouldn't be any problem at all discussing the names of suppliers. That's not confidential. The only area they wouldn't want to go into is details of quotes.

Signalling has been supplied by a number of different contractors and sub-contractors. For example, Ansaldo had the contract for the resignalling work around Stockport. Hardware has been supplied by companies like Lundy, Dormans and Rowlescourt:

There was a big change between the scoping phase of WCRM and the actual work carried out. The original plans included in cab signaling on the Pendo's, though the lineside signals would remain for the other rolling stock using the line, but the Pendo driver would have advance notice of teh aspect being displayed by the next signal. The balises for this system were IIRC installed along the full length of the track, but the processing part of the system has never been designed.
