If I recall correctly, there are currently three traditional signal boxes on the Leicester to Burton Line - Bardon Hill, Mantle Lane and Moira West.
I remember reading in a Network Rail document several years ago that these boxes will eventually be closed and control moved to the East Midlands Control Centre in Derby. They seemed a low priority if I recall, i.e. I think they were in the last phase of the EMCC implementation.
I haven't seen any updates on this for some time and can't find the original document now either. I am wondering what the plan is for these boxes now. Is this still the plan and if so what do the likely timelines look like now?
In a way, I will be sad to see them go as they are one of the last links to the past / happier days of passenger services on the line.
