Signaller's situational judgment test

Folks,

Sorry if this has been asked several times before, but I am after some advice.

I have applied for a grade 2 signallers position and have been invited to complete an online situational judgment test. I have manaed to find a few bits of information by searching this forum, but I was wondering if anybody has taken the test recently and could give me any advice on what will be required?

Hey,

I did mine last year and don't think it would've changed much.
They were multiple choice and asked you things like, 'You work in a busy call centre, the phone is ringing but you're about to finish your shift, additionally, a colleague needs some help with urgent paperwork'. You select an answer based on what you think is higher priority.
Another question I remember is, 'how would you go about monitoring surveillance cctv screens' and again it's multiple choice. I guess it tests your logic and how you prioritise things.

All rather simple. Just common sense really. Some questions are obvious on what not to tick.

Depending on the company and job, some are designed to see if you think like the company, some designed to see if you can give honesty answers, i.e not pick the answer you think the company wants. There is no right or wrong, but there is a no no, two very close together or similar and one that can also be right.

Its your judgement of the situation.

You will find out if you have passed in a couple of days and if so the score remains on file and if you are in the top 8 then you move to the next round.

Websites and forums are spilt on if you can practice SJT's. The important thing is just take your time and be honest.

Does anyone know how long it usually takes to hear back on the results from an SJT? I applied for a position that closed on 04/03/15 (I did the test a few days before the closing date) and haven't heard anything yet.

In short Yes.

You normally receive an email with a couple of days saying if you have passed the SJT and that your test scores and application will be considered for the next stage. Then after a couple of weeks after closing date an email to say you were unsuccessful or an invite to assessment.

What box you applied for? What does your online profile say? When I passed to the next stage, the email must of got lost as my status online changed to 'Considering for assessment' or something along those line. All I can recommend is just sit and wait, read any of the posts on here about signalling and you will soon see like the rest of the railway its a long process.

I applied for a post at Chester PSB, my online profile is still saying "Test completed" at the moment.

Just a case of getting used to waiting!

No News is good news and all that. I know that HR send out two emails a day. One at around 10:30 and another 16:30. So you may hear any day now. I know that people have 5 working days to do the test and the invite for the test is sent out within 72 hours of the application being received, so maybe not all the test results are in yet!
