Hi guys applied for the future vacancies for Scotland Signallers grade 1-7

Here's how i've got on so far...

Application Under Review 05-Aug-2016 21:49:58
Application Accepted 08-Aug-2016 07:03:49
Application Under Consideration 08-Aug-2016 16:11:41
Invited to Test 08-Aug-2016 16:17:45
Test Completed 12-Aug-2016 16:10:35
Test Completed 15-Aug-2016 06:03:25

I know NR can take an age to progress applications was just wondering if anyone else has gotten past this stage??

Couple of other things on the page the department is listed as "OS Motherwell Sig Cen (106081) G3" does this mean anything??

Also after the SJ test was completed on Aug 15th I received a pdf entitled "IRC1768488_Test_Complete_-_Success.pdf" does the success mean anything?? or just notification the test has been received?

Thanks for any help you can offer

I applied at the beginning of June for Motherwell and have an interview soon. I can't remember the time scale but I think it was over a month between sitting the SJ test and being invited to the assessment centre.

I also have exactly the same on my application. However I emailed them last week and received a reply to say they were awaiting a date for the next assessment centre to happen. Need to be patient I suppose

Hi Martin,

Good to know someones in the same boat, Just curious when you e-mailed did they indicate you had passed the SJT?? would think if they said they are waiting for a assessment center date then that points to being successful up until this point??

If you got the success pdf file, it means you passed.....however,you need to be in the top 8 of those that passed to get into the assessment day (we'll it's top 8 for one I applied for down south)

Best of luck to all

Thanks that's good to know, Does the top 8 mean a combination of your application and SJT??

I'am betting there was loads of applications as it was posted on s1 jobs

Wondering also if poss different as post was for future vacancies

Anyone know when there's likely to be an assessment day?? I assume they only have them every so often?

Seem to be quite a few.
I know Manchester had 2 lots of people on Monday just gone and I know of more on the 30th.

Might be more in between.

Hi guys just received this email

"Your application is still under consideration.

We are currently awaiting confirmation of assessment centre dates and will keep you informed on any progress.

If you wish to no longer be considered for this role, please log on to your online account to withdraw your application from the vacancy.

Thank you for your patience

Kind Regards

Network Rail Recruitment team"

Does this mean I have made it to the assessment center stage??

cheers for any help

Phoned HR they said yes it means progression to assessment center, However its the sjt test scores managers will look at for who they progress to interview.

Seems kinda strange system to me lol

Found out on the 22nd of Sept that I got the job.

Hi dunky, I have also received this email. What exactly did HR say? Is it progression to assessment centre regardless, with successful candidates from there having their SJT scores considered when asking people back for interviews?

It has certainly been quite a drawn out process!

Thank you :) No it could be the 24th but nothing has been confirmed yet, I just recently had a medical.

You're at the same stage as me, had my medical last Friday still waiting on the alcohol and drug test

martin.g - trying to be optimistic, maybe there are different assessment days for different signalling centres? It would be a bit mean not to send the rejection message if we really have left the process *crosses fingers* (!)

You are correct weedav80. I'm in it for the long haul. Trying for a career change and really like the sounds of this job. I stay north of Aberdeen so I'm guessing the opportunities are few and far between, but you never know......

if you'd be happy moving to Edinburgh you could try for the Azuma driver opportunities!

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news but the Aberdeen to Inverness line signalboxes (Dyce, Inverurie, Insch, Kennethmont, Huntly, Keith, Elgin, Forres and Nairn) will be closing in three phases, starting with Nairn, Forres and Elgin in summer 2017, and moving to a new workstation in Inverness Signalling Centre. The work is well advanced so it doesn't look like there will be a reprieve.
