So since passing my assessment centre at Level 3 and failing at the interview stage for the job I went for (Cuxton Grade 2) I've been looking out for other vacancies. There hasn't been many, and none of which I am looking for due to location/grade.

My question is.. How often do Network Rail take people off the street for signal boxes above Grade 2-3? Crawley has vancancies but is a grade 6-7 (guessing grade due to salary). Is it worth applying for these vacancies?

Of course it's worth applying to get your name out there more often and you've got more chance than not applying but isit really a shot in the dark?

I have to say that grade 2-3 are more often than not filled from applicants that are not from within the industry, grades that are higher can be a very varied approach, in large cities like london there are less feeder signal boxes so many times a grade 6-9 may be filled from an external applicant although expect a. Long training schedule. Vince
