Hi my brother has had this letter was wondering if anyone has sat this online assesment or knows what its all about ? many thanks

Thank you for submitting your application for the above position. I am pleased to inform you that you have been selected to complete an online assessment.
Please note, if you have applied for the role of Signaller you are advised to complete the assessment within the next 10 days to enable us to progress your application. If you have applied for any other role you are advised to complete the assessment within the next 5 days to enable us to progress your application. Online assessment is an important selection tool and the results will be used to inform our selection decision. Therefore, I recommend you complete the assessment in a quiet environment and to allow yourself plenty of time.
Please note, your online assessment results will be retained on file for 12 months.

Its basically part of the first sift to whittle the candidates down.
Its basically an SJT (Saturation Judgement Test) 15 or so question where it gives a scenario and then 4 options of what would be the best course of action and you pick one of them. Two of the answers are normally obvious, with one very incorrect response to the situation. Basically its all logical - best not to over think your response.

e.g A work colleague shows up drunk for work do you
A) Inform your manager and let them deal with it
B) Tell them to go home and cover for them
C) Help them to sober up while dealing with their work load
D) Report them to HR

From this the top 8 will go through to the Assessment stage (psychometric and ability to be trained tests) and the top 5 from that to interview. Your scores stay on file so if you don't get through on this one - the next role you apply for, you won't need to do the test as your score from this one will carry forward.

Search online for SJTs also open the link in the email as it gives example questions and explains it all.
