Signaller Assessment Day

I was wondering if anyone who has recently attended a Signaller assessment day could assist me?

I've been asked to attend one in a few weeks, I'm to sit the fault finding/mechanical comprehension test, signaller trainability test and everyday attention test.

Could someone fill me in on them please?

I'm praying there not the dreaded lift test !

I did the full assessment and got a Grade 3 pass in 2010 valid for 10 yeas, but they've changed the process now, so I've only got to do three of them now thankfully !

Any help would be great!

Hi NX

More than likely it will involve the lift test. I counted my fingers under the desk when I did mine (rather bizarre). You will also get the test where you are given a set of buttons that are pressed in a sequence. From the first diagram and the one at the end.....you have to establish which button is faulty in the sequence. On top of that, you will get passages to read where you have to get the answers from the passage. My advice would be to take your time and aim for accuracy more than finishing.

I've had a good look at th practice booklet online, and yes the lift test is included. I'm still having nightmares from last time !

I was at the assessment day a couple of weeks ago. I did tests that included finding a certain symbol on a map, lift beep test, finding specified symbols whilst also counting beeps, fault finding, learning a passage of info on signalling and then answering questions from memory, time and distance maths, lottery test (have to listen out for a certain sequence of letters and numbers out of about 10 minutes worth). I can't remember what else but it was 3 solid hours of testing. Wasn't too hard, I found closing my eyes helps for the tests that involved listening to things. Got my interview in the morning so fingers crossed.
