Hi

I'm new to the forum been reading different threads for the last few weeks having applied for a vacancy at Blackburn for 3x grade 2 signallers.

I have been asked to attend the assessment centre for assesment fingers crossed and just a couple of quick questions.

1. Any tips advice for study preparation ?

2. As this is a position for Three vacancies will it still be the top Eight from the sjt tests that will be there for the assessment ?

Just study the material you are sent... and once at the assessment make sure you ask if you do not understand any of the tests.

The top 8 for each role...

Assessment scores are valid for 3 years, so anyone that has taken the signaller assessment within the last 3 years that have applied for the same position as you will be put on hold until you have completed yours.
At that point the LOM will consider all the applications and the top 5 for each role will be put forward for interview.

Is there a timescale on when I should expect to find out if I have been successful on getting through to the interview stage ?

No timescale where Network Rail are concerned... it all depends how desperate they are to fill the role.
Normally within a week maybe two, but please bear in mind if you are put forward for assessment 2... that wait could be a long one. Mine have varied between 3 weeks and 6 months!

You should find out pretty quickly if you were in the top 5 put forward for interview (I was emailed the morning after the assessment to tell me I'd passed, then later on that same afternoon to tell me I was in top 5).

But it seems the wait for assessment 2 (ie the interview) is a long one. I passed assessments on 09/09/15, and am still waiting for assessment 2.

Got the email yesterday that I'd passed unfortunately today my status changed to unsuccessful so I guess I wasn't I. The top five.

Will my score affect my chances for future applications ?

Sorry to hear that but well done for passing.

The results last for 3 years from when you take the assessments, but the actual mark required to be in the top 5 will depend on other candidates, or so we were told by HR last time.
