Signalbox opening hours

One of the reasons we have been told the Sunday service to Avonmouth can only run for 8 hours on Sundays is because running to Avonmouth requires the signalbox at St Andrews Road to be open, and on Sundays, this is only open for a few hours.

Looking at the signals on the platform ends, the signal plates certaintly display "SA" which would make me assume they have something to do with St Andrews Road signalbox. However, yesterday I found a map from the 1960s resignalling of Bristol which included a map, whereby the entire line up to Severn Beach was under the control of Bristol. Also, looking at the SimSig simulation of Bristol (yes, I know, it may hardly be a definitive source), here the signals there are included on the game.

Does anyone know what is exactly the case here. Could the signalbox at St Andrews Road control the Level Crossing under the M5 or something?

According to Quail, Bristol controls the line to Avonmouth Dock Crossing (next to the M5). St Andrews Junction controls the line from there to Severn Beach and the first part of the line back to Filton.

So St Andrews box would need to be open to allow access into Avonmouth station.

They could always control the crossing from another box with further equipment being installed, Truro Station Crossing for example can be operated elsewhere when the box is shut
