Not a good week for Kent Coast Commuters. After the overrunning engineering works at New Cross earlier in the week, there was a signal failure at Paddock Wood this evening, stopping all services.
The 1841 from Charing Cross got as far as Orpington where train staff advised that a Hastings service would stop to allow us to get to Tonbridge, even giving a Platform No. Platform staff suggested getting a slow to Sevenoaks where Hastings service would stop.
At Sevenoaks they decided we should go via Bat & Ball to Otford and wait there.
Fortunately later services had been diverted via Maidstone stopping at Otford and Maidstone so managed to get on the 1821 from CHX. They announced the fault had been cleared as we arrived at Ashford at 2006.
The joys of commuting.
