Between Newton Abbott and Plymouth the signalling "Blocks" are very long, frequently causing delays as a few late running trains quickly eat up track capacity. Are there any definate plans to shorten these signalling blocks. Many times(Yesterday for instance) I have been on trains that have had to crawl from Newton Abbot to Totnes and beyond as a result of this problem so delaying late trains even more.

GWML capacity is at 70 - 90% on this section, and there are no plans to make any improvements or changes
However, much of the signalling is nearing the end of its life and Network Rail will be replacing much of it between 2007 and 2015
Looks like you will need to wait until 2013

It does need upgrading really although some trains can't be held on the banks as they will never start again!
