This sign was on the cab window at the inner end of 376 025 on Saturday, and I was wondering what 'MO RESTRICTION THIS END' meant.

Cheers

Geoff

Multi-only (I believe) - i.e. defective cab for some reason, so train cannot go into service without being coupled on that end.

You sometimes see non-multi stickers too, which mean the train must not be coupled on that end.

Thanks for that.

Would the end with the sticker have always been the inner end, could it have been turned so a working inner end became the front or rear end?

Defective cabs will often be “boxed in” to allow the unit to continue in service, if that’s what you mean?

Yes, that's what I was getting at. Obviously there's no need to have the unit out of use until it can be fixed, if you can just turn it around so the working former inner end becomes the front or rear cab, until the defective cab can be repaired.

Generally achieved by simply reforming the train in a depot (rear unit run around and attached to the front). Turning around not necessary!

Depending on what infrastructure is available it can be quite difficult to turn a unit around especially if you can only drive from one end! Much more likely they'd just couple another unit on at a depot.
