On the way to see the other half for the weekend, passing through Craigentinny, there was a Grand Central HST (full train) in the sidings.
Any ideas as to why it was there, being so far away from it's operation area.

Also, an East Coast HST power car that seemed to have no engine and was in a rather poor looking state was in a siding too with a black class 08 shunter behind it, any ideas which unit that is?

Don't think that much maintenance happens at Heaton, so could be there for something such as the wheel lathe.

Nothing new i'm afraid...

GC have used the lathe at Craigentinny many times before, they have a path each way to do so...

On a train...somewhere!
I have been advised that the coaches were there for tyre turning and are due back at Heaton imminently.

Numbers were 43465/67 which had been over to Kilmarnock earlier in the month to deposit the 3x GC MKs yet to undergo refurb.

The Class 08 will have been 08615, I believe it is if the shunter was in Wabtec Rail Black.
