Yesterday afternoon, 15.46, waiting for my train home as usual on the platform at the Elephant & Castle. A brand new class 700 approaching. Wow, I thought, now we have the brand new trains on the route to Sevenoaks as well.
Anyway, three stops after mine, at Nunhead, the driver tries to open the doors to let passengers out but to no avail; doors blocked. Passengers trapped for quite a while until one door was opened in the rear of the train.
It was 15.54...at 16.44, when I jumped on a train to Victoria on the opposite platform, the doors were still blocked. Inside the train it was dark, as the driver was trying to re-set something and there were no lights on. The driver, poor guy, was running back and forth from one end of the train to the other, all worked up. Perhaps he was running also because it was freezing cold
So, this is my brand new experience with the new class 700.
Should we ask the Germans for a refund?
