Shunter salary GTR

Just checking for a friend who is interested in applying for a shunter position at GTR, I think the salary is wrong here as it's the same as the training pay. Does anyone know what the full salary is?

I was presuming the salary is wrong as it says £20k for training and £20k once trained? Just wondered if that's right or once trained the salary rises?

Pay usually goes up annually in increments, although it is a little low, it sounds about right!

Tbh I think it's a typing error pal. I was with fcc before and I'm sure it was more than that. Think it was 24k back then must be a bit more now I'm sure.

Cricklewood Shunters have recently (kinda) been demoted :cry: The depot is now run from the box and the YP mostly co-ordinate trains than pull points. Maybe a downgrade of the role has prompted the lower salary ?

It is still a safety critical role though. I can't believe they really get paid less than the Gateline Assistant role at Brighton they are also advertising.

Shunters are usually on no more than £27 to £28k PA which is okay, buy that's made up of allowances with a few companies so you need to be careful because although with overtime etc you could earn a lot of money, pensionable pay is at about the 18k mark.

There was an advert a couple of months ago for the Stewarts Lane Depot. From memory that advertised over the 30k mark, but would include inner London weighting.

That would be a trainee position. All shunter jobs require training. It's a very good job to start with.

Might just be SWT, but Shunters are different to Depot Drivers with them. A Depot Driver at SWT is on about 38k a year after training, hence the salary difference. As far as I'm aware Depot Drivers are trained to shunt but as a rule just move trains from a to b within the depot limits, which is why they're not called shunt drivers I'd imagine.

Shunt Driver, Shunter Driver, Shunter, Yard Protection. Knowing the railway there is probably more titles floating about.
