Hi guys

I have gone in for a MB2 shunter at south west trains.

Now, I wonder if anyone can help me. I recently applied for a RO2 vacancy. This one is MB2, what are the differences guys? It's at Clapham Junc if that helps.

Thanks alot!

Jamie

Not a clue about South West Trains and RO2/MB2 grades in that respective company.

RO2 in my Company is Platform Staff - namely Gateline or Despatch - which are nowhere near the same grade as maintenance depot driving.

Yep RO2 for SWT are the Platform staff (separate from Gateline and Booking office though). I've no idea about MB2 shunter though, all I know is those are not based on platforms usually, mainly at Depots.

The last shunter role i went for was definitely RO2. It wasnt depot driving though, just shunting (setting routes, coupling etc)

This (MB2) job description was different to the RO2 one, and didn't really mention point setting etc so I am curios really!

Thanks so far guys.

Anyone got any help/pointers? Any more info on what the job really entails?

Many thanks all

I have an interview too mate, pretty sure it's just a shunter position without the driving. I would be interested to hear if anyone else knows more about the position too if possible please.

Yes mate mines at the end of next week. I've also tried researching the role and not got too far as yet. I've passed my train driver assessments and hopefully eventually become one if I can get into SWT. A shunter mb2 sounds like a minor maintenance role and basically guiding in the depot drivers. I've seen a guy on here get the job without knowing anything about it so hopefully it won't be too hard. Whens your interview mate?

Next Thursday mate. I have found out a massive deal as I know a driver from that depot, so that has helped a fair bit.

Good luck all the same pal!

Didn't get it :(

Got a letter today.

"We are pleased to advise you that you met the required standard in your interview, however due to the number of positions available and the number of successful applicants, we are unable to offer you a position on this occasion"

So in reality it seems like it wasn't really my fault, I know I could of answered the first couple of questions a bit better, so maybe that's where i messed up!

Feel better knowing I did well though! Shame I didn't get it though, was really hoping I would, seems like a brilliant job.
