The purpose of this role is to ensure that rolling stock is shunted, prepared and dispatched to meet service requirements and to facilitate the most efficient train presentation operation. It will also involve ensuring the rolling stock is externally washed and CET tanks are emptied in line with Train presentation Specification.
The successful candidate will be involved in:
Controlling the safe movement of rolling stock and shunting at their location
Operating hand points
Washing of trains in line with Train Presentation specifications liaising with SDC and Fleet Operations Planners and maintaining a record of trains washed.
Assisting with train presentation duties as required and assist during service disruption
Act as Yard Protector
Manage contractors/visitors/deliveries
Adhering to depot emergency procedures and depot security
Act as Fire / Site evacuation Warden
Liaise with Fleet Operations, Planners, SDC, signalling staff, station staff, train drivers and other staff
Maintain a record of late departures from the depot, communicating information as necessary
Comply with rules and regulations as defined in the Rule Book and safety critical working practices and adhering to all publications and operating notices
