Shunter (Ground Role) - GTR

Good morning,
So I’ve recently been in touch with Govia and the lady on the phone stated that a shunter(non driver) will not have to take the MMI. Which is fine but what’s confusing is the last of the tests at Go ahead house(back in December) was to write answers to questions in preparation to if you succeed to the MMI. I was double checking my emails and I clearly state about re booking my MMI(I missed the MMI due to being sick and waiting for another vacancy to come up so I can continue) to which the reply also states the same.
My question is can anyone confirm whether shunters need to take the MMI or not? Or do we go straight to a DMI? Would need to know this in order to prepare correctly.
Any info would be greatly appreciated.

It will be a reduced version of the Drivers’ MMI, I’m guessing they provided you with some questions during your assessment in Croydon that you had to complete which will form the basis of your next stage interview?

In your answers make sure to focus on experiences of personal safety and keeping others safe at all times, the importance of safety critical communication (vital for Shunters as you will be using radios, giving hand signals to coordinate movements in the yard) and any experience in following set rules and processes In completing tasks will be useful. If you include all of the above in your answers you should do well.

I recently applied for a Shunter (TL) and passed the online SCAAT and RAAT test and have now been invited to the assessment centre.
Does anyone know or have an idea of what type of assessment/assessments there will be, is it the same as the driver ones or something similar as it shows the duration of the assessment as 3 hours so I’m assuming it will be multiple assessments not just 1.

Any help would be greatly appreciated

You should be emailed an assessment pack in advance to prepare you and let you know what the day will look like. The day will consist of five or six tests, some computer-based and some paper-based. I believe since Covid the standard has been for everyone to complete the whole day and you find out afterwards how you did.
