Shrewsbury to Reading tomorrow

Hi. Need to make the above journey tomorrow am. 1 adult no r/cards. There is a FGW priced SSS @ £29.60 via Newport, that seems good value.

Problem is I MAY need to come back later that day, so can anyone suggest the cheapest return ticket please ?

We won't be able to give the absolute cheapest fare.

I can't check fares now but for a day return you can usually save by splitting into Day Returns- in this case using the Cotswold Line (between Worcester and Oxford) might help. Try splitting at combinations of Hereford, Worcester and Oxford for starters.

Shrewsbury - Leamington Spa Off-Peak Day Return £13.90
Leamington Spa - Banbury Off-Peak Day Return £7.50
Banbury - Reading Off-Peak Day Return £11.20

Total = £32.60

All XC trains on a Saturday from Birmingham to Reading call at Leamington Spa and Banbury.
