Indeed, no doubt that there's a signalled move towards Hereford. It's always been there, if I'm not mistaken, but only as a disc previously and therefore not to passenger standards.

Sorry, should have quoted more selectively! That was my point (ha) - that the box diagram shows that there's no physical connection back towards Birmingham. Now suitably edited!

But there is an eastbound physical connection from the Down Main to the Up Main at Abbey Foregate Jn (but again, maybe not signalled in that direction).
Any remodelling of Shrewsbury would surely make all these connections reversible, at the same time maybe reducing trackage.

That'd require a signalled move in the wrong direction through the AF-SBJ block section though, which wouldn't be a trivial matter. I'd guess that the trailing crossover at Abbey Foregate is mechanical without FPLs too. I'm sure they'll consider providing that move when it's eventually resignalled and/or remodelled, but I doubt it'll happen in the meantime.

Use of 3 this morning as services disrupted. Rhyl to Cardiff ( due off Salop 0719) was terminated in Platform 4 and became 0746 to Manchester Piccadily. The 0724 to Llanduno arrived 16 down on 3 as 2 three car sets with lead unit saying it was for Manchester, sets split front going to Llandudno and rear then became very late 0719 to Cardiff which was over an hour late into Cardiff. 0740 to Milford haven left a few down and picked up all the Hereford commuter traffic only a 2 car 175 must have been horrendous!
