Hi, On the Classic Buses (Events Diary) website it shows for the 25th September 2022, Showbus 50, The Last Showbus. Does anyone have further info on this being the last, I've looked on the Showbus website home page, but couldn't see any further info. Regards Mike

Widely reported and there has been a press release too - cannot find link but definitely the case.

Previous entrants have received an email stating that it will be the last (as some of the organisers have been involved with all of them!). However the 'Flyby' that is also happening this year is intended to continue.

Did you enjoy the last SHOWBUS you attended? If so do not miss SHOWBUS50 this September as it will be the last. From the first event at Brunel University in January 1973 I have spent a huge chunk of my life organising what became the biggest vintage and modern bus and coach display in the world. Physically the weekend has become demanding, and despite having a loyal, fit and experienced team, the time has come for the SHOWBUS display to go out on a high.

The display on September 25th at the Hertfordshire County Showground is going to be something special. SHOWBUS has celebrated Her Majesty’s Silver, Golden and Diamond jubilees and this year we will be celebrating Her Platinum Jubilee. We are planning a display of buses with one vehicle from each year of Her reign. We are hoping some of the surviving buses from the 1973 event and other early Hillingdon rallies will join us. Not only is it our 50th, but National Express are celebrating a half century too and will be celebrating with us. Other anniversaries to commemorate are 50 years of the Leyland National and loyal SHOWBUS supporter, Ensignbus – who remembers when we held the event at their Purfleet premises in 1981?

The pandemic in 2020 forced SHOWBUS on to the road and a very successful day was created running around 70 buses through the Chiltern Hills along the A40. So the week before the Showground display we are holding another SHOWBUSflyby and stretching the eastern end of the route to SHOWBUS’ original home at Brunel University.

There is more good news as though the display side of SHOWBUS will end, we plan to run a SHOWBUSflyby every year centred on High Wycombe in co-operation with Buckinghamshire County Council as in 2020. The route will vary from year to year to cover different parts of the county, but the SHOWBUS TRADERS VILLAGE is expected to feature in the historic Wycombe Market Place in the High Street.
