If was not for the fact that they are twenty years old and I know when it Bombardier, it was going to cost an absolute fortune to do, but I do wonder whether it would still be better for Alstom to build an extra carriage for the class 221, to turn them into bi-mode trains with an OHLE carriage being added?
However, given that many operators have gone for newer trains with longer carriages, I suspect that will be the way that Grand Central also go?
