Would like to know peoples thoughts on this! Appplied for trainee train driver with fgw,however application still awaiting shortlisting.Don't feel too confident as no previous railway experience and thousands of applicants.Thinking of applying for train dispatch with fgw because I think getting a foot in the industry will help me in becoming a driver eventually.how would fgw see this?

Don't think they'd know, they have far too much work on their plate to check who's applying for what. For any company, I always suggest the scatter-gun approach and hit them with as many (relevent) applications as possible.... it's a lottery, and you need more chances to win.
There is no harm in putting in for the job. Have a good look at the advert, identify the skills or experience that they require (and no where in the trainee driver ad will it ask for previous railway experience, as it is not required at all), and if you anything like match the criteria, give it a go.
