Shooting at Carfin Station

A man has been shot by armed police at Carfin Railway Station in North Lanarkshire. He was reported to be on the track with a firearm.

Coming from the area, I can tell you that North Lanarkshire is not a stranger to violent crime. However, Carfin is a relatively quiet town, so it's quite surprising. Services are currently suspended on the line, and it is expected to reopen tomorrow morning.

The talk was of someone with a mental health issue, possibly aggravated by a domestic incident.
