Shipley: unhelpful station map

I know the station slightly and was looking to refresh my mind, but this is just confusing!

That is spectacularly bad! The station is triangular, so trying to force it into a rectangle massively distorts it. It also wrongly shows that the single line on one side of the triangle (platform 5) crosses over both other pairs of lines, which it doesn't - it links between the other two sides of the triangle.

But that is how the NR diagrams are set up (they must be 20 years old at least even if they have been updated). Within those limits, I can't see anything that would send a user in the wrong direction.

The most likely difficulty would be working out what represents what on the ground!

The method of representing stations clearly didn't take into account the possibility for anything other than platforms in parallel or at right-angles.

that is even worse! I'm surprised that a National organisation, part of our infrastructure, allows such rubbish to be part of its public face. I would agree with @rower40, take it down and link to Google maps or whatever - and put some effort in to ensure that the platforms and accesses are correctly shown there.

They could replace it with one of the "modern" 3d maps, then it would look prettier and vaguely physically correct but have half the platform numbers illegible due to the crappy resolution.

The problem is that back in the day you could hover over these maps and it'd show pictures of almost every station feature and what you need to know (eg. if a ramp is shallow enough to be used independently by a wheelchair user).

Now you're just left with the same outdated maps but none of the utility.
