It's like a F1 pitstop. Carrying out such a task in under 7 min requires reviewing every single minor step, check the time spent and optimize the number of tasks and time consumed.

I wonder how they manage when... a rather odd situation shows up. Knowing the Japanese, any major spill (or worse) is taken care by the passenger himself, out of personal etiquette. Though there's always that one individual that doesn't give a +*+*+.

Two years ago I was at Tokyo Station waiting to board a Max Toki E4 double-deck Shinkansen to Niigata. The doors only opened less than three minutes before departure time yet the train still departed punctually. Maybe one factor for achieving fast turnarounds is that Japanese people are very efficient at boarding trains?

I've seen the same done on 12 car Networkers at Kings Cross and 11 car Pendolinos at Birmingham New Street.

I’ve seen Pendolinos turned round at Euston in 4 minutes. Granted at quiet times, and no servicing done, but it can be done.
