Passed Sherburn station today and noticed that the level crossing has been permanently closed, although the barriers and lights are still intact. Anyone know when this was carried out?

think it happened when the bypass was built. that included a new route and bridge for the B1222
Not sure when tho, last time i was on a train thru there was 2004 and i think it had been closed then but can't be sure .

The crossing was closed to traffic when the by-pass was opened.
The crossing is now used as a pedestrian crossing to access the other platform or offices/factories on the otherside of the railway lines.

I remember going there in around 2001 or 2002 and it was shut then, so quite a while back. Sorry I cannot be more definitive.

Cheers for the info. Last time I went through I remember there was a level crossing but didn't notice that at that time it was disused either.
