sheffield to runcorn

Hiya,

I’m looking to go from sheffield to runcorn tomorrow (friday) arriving at 6.40 ish. i’m working till 5pm and have looked but it says to get the train at 4.43 but i have to change twice. is there any better way to get there? i work remotely on my laptop so would be fine, but id rather not be carrying my laptop around with me.

Route via Liverpool Lime Street or Liverpool South PArkway results in 1 change.

Also, worth a look is Sheffield to Runcorn East. which is 1hr45 and 1 change in Manchester

Would Runcorn East be an acceptable destination? That way you only change once and get in earlier, and the fare is cheaper too.

Did wonder that myself, but, in context, has to be 6.40 a.m., given that the OP says they are (likely to be working) until around 5 p.m.

Changing at Liverpool South Parkway would be better, 2 an hour from Sheffield, then 2 an hour from Liverpool South Parkway to Runcorn, Liverpool South Parkway to/from Runcorn is only one stop, journey time around 10 minutes.

Depending where the OP needs to go to in Runcorn, Runcorn East might not be the best station for the OP given it's location.

Thinking about it... Sheffield to Liverpool South Parkway then get Uber. 1711 takes 1hr 38 and is £22. Uber will be about £20

Or Uber/Taxi from Warrington Central could be quicker?

Uber from Liverpool South Parkway maybe more than £20 as there is the Merseyflow bridge toll to pay?

18:40 seems to be what OP meant as they mentioned that they can continue their work on a laptop (though it isn't the ideal option).

Widnes to Runcorn would be even quicker / cheaper by cab but beware there is no rank at Widnes. The 1643 arrives Widnes 1809.

Or Arriva North West 110 bus from Warrington Interchange to Runcorn, Warrington Interchange is over the road from Warrington Central, i think the fare is still £2 single as the depot is in the Liverpool City Region (which has stuck with the £2 single fare cap), although i'm not sure, buses are 2 an hour, but check timetable.
