Sheffield to Huddersfield

Hi All,

Tomorrow I will be making this trip, easy enough on the way there direct train at 11.36 at about a 5er with a YP railcard. However on the way back I don't think I will be able to make the 17.13 return from Huddersfield after the game, and the 18.13 arrives too late for me to connect with the 19.27 EMT to London. This leaves me with the option of going via Leeds leaving Huddersfield at 17.35 which is fine but more expensive at about 10er. Are there any clever ways to get the price down or anything obvious I'm missing?

On the way back, you can use the 1735 and change at Wakefield Westgate using the ticket above. It arrives at Wakefield Westgate at 1808 and there is a CrossCountry Voyager leaving at 1824, arriving Sheffield at 1851.

I assume you are a Brentford fan coming up for the game.
Some info for you.

If you are in the "Pink-Link" Stand behind the goal, this is at the town centre end of the ground. If you leave at the final whistle and get a bit of a wriggle on you can comfortably make the 17.13. (I have caught this several times)
It leaves from platform 2 which is a left turn as soon as you go through the ticket office.

If however you get a cheap day return Sheff-Hudds with your railcard the cost comes up as £5.30 and allows travel via Wakefield on the return leg.

Yes I have done this too a few times. Just remember your way when getting to the stadium.

I would recommend The Gas Club for a pre-match pint, always been a favourite of mine as a visiting fan and right on the way to the ground - put HD1 6NA into google maps to find it.

Best places are Kings Head (Station Tavern) to left of station entrance or
the Sportsman: Turn left on leaving the station square, under railway bridge and on left corner (Camra's new joint Pub-of-the-Year and on way to ground too)
