Next week im going from Sheffield To Crewe

I wanted to go there from Sheffield to Manchester then Manchester to Crewe.

On the way back I want to come back from Crewe to Derby then Derby to Sheffield.

Are both of these routes allowed or are you restricted to just one.

The only through fares are routed Stockport. No other routeing exists.

A ticket that allows travel on any train, and you can return within a month is £30.20 (SVR).

By the far the cheapest option is to travel after 9am (or any time weekends) and get a Wayfarer (£8.50) valid to Uttoxeter, then a Uttoxeter to Crewe CDR for £7.40. This is not much more than half the price of the through ticket via Stockport.

Alternatively if you want to go via the Hope Valley one-way get a Wayfarer and use that to New Mills Ctl, then a New Mills Ctl to Uttoxeter Anytime Single is £14.50. When you reach Uttoxeter, you will then be valid on your Wayfarer via Derby. Note that only Northern stopping trains call at New Mills Ctl, which will prolong your journey, although as you said you wanted to go via Manchester, it's not really prolonging your journey much, as the only way you'd be allowed to get a TPE/EMT to Manchester would then be if you got a Northern stopper to Crewe rather than a fast train doubling back through Stockport.
