Today (20th April), most of Sheffield station was shut for engineering works - only platforms 1 and 2 appeared to be open to train services.

Anyone know what they were doing? It can't have been too much if they planned to complete the job in ~30 hours.

I passed though this morning, I was on the 10:50 Leeds - Kettering HST.

From what I could see, Plat. 5 road was being relaid along with associated point work at the north end. The other through roads, 6 and 8 were occupied by ballast trains and there were a few Northern units trapped in Bays 3 & 4 by the possession. Only 1 & 2 were open to traffic.

Incidentally, does anyone know why EMT were terminating at Kettering?
