Just been past the Tinsley Chord, rails and sleepers have now been laid up to the Supertram boundary fence and now needs a possession on the tramway to complete.

The point work onto the single line on the Chord is just shy of the boundary fence.

Anyone know when the point work at Parkgate will be installed?

I think there is a rule that points can't be installed but not detected for more than a certain number of months, so they may not do these until they are ready to do some signalling that will provide detection.

I am looking forward to seeing it completed but progress is so,so, slow. Pity there is not a thread showing the progress regularly. There is one on RMweb which is quite good however.

I'm not sure, the pointwork on the Tinsley line to connect to the Tinsley Chord has already been installed.

A switch has been installed on the line from Aldwarke junction to Rotherham Central.
There is no switch either to this switch creating a crossover or as yet to the 'siding' on the adjacent line.
The platform line now appears to be laid rather than rails & sleepers stacked & orangemen were on site today. Sleepers on top of ballast with continuous rail but not tampered. No sign of platform as yet.

That was done last Sunday - the two switches (points) still needed for the Parkgate crossover and tram terminus line are currently stacked up beside the line just beyond the Parkgate footbridges.
I imagine the next possession will be to install them - there are buses for trains this Sunday at Rotherham Central, and an engineering train scheduled in for late Saturday night as a 2301 Belmont Down Yard to Rotherham Central.

I wonder when they are actually going to progress any further with the "knitting". That seemed to flourish briefly at least a year ago, but - the last time I was in sight of it - hadn't moved on since. The trackwork will remain irrelevant until the wires are up.

The "knitting" - most masts and horizontal bits are up on the freight-only section of line, barring a few by the new junction at Tinsley, but none on the passenger section, although some piles are driven.
No actual wiring at all, but you'd expect them to complete track works before wiring, to give them less to bump into with cranes etc.

Will all 7 tram-trains be delivered before a single one turns a wheel on revenue service?

Didn't count how many in total but I've seen a fair number of them parked up at Nunnery Road. Six or seven perhaps?

Six delivered, with 207 due in the next couple of weeks. Unsure on a date for entry to service although it's looking like some point next year - for anyone interested, regular 399 / tram-train updates are posted onto the British Tramway News page on Facebook, which also links to @TramwayNews on Twitter - I'm sure me or one of the other editors of the page will post an update as to when a date is given for entry to service ;)

(cheeky plug finished)

One was still in Valencia a couple of weeks ago but did not see it last week, will check later today.
UPDATE: 207 was still in Valencia this morning 9 November, parked at the end of the test track and a long low loader of the type used for trams was being prepared. A Karlsruhe tram nearby did not have numbers or logos so is probably not ready so I suspect that 207 is destined to be loaded later today by moving the low loader to the end of the test track where the traverser normally connects.

Meanwhile, December's Today's Railways gives early 2018 as the new likely start date for the tram-train service, although the Tinsley junction and chord should be ready by Easter 2017. There seems to be an issue with--what else?--bridge clearances around Rotterham Central, although apparently it's now been established that they're fine for 750V DC.

On the other hand, the same item also reports the new trams will enter service on the existing network in January.

Very possibly due to the changed regulations that have been discussed in several threads. The obvious thing to do is to wire the bridges in question for 750V and worry about rebuilding them if and when the time comes. By then we might be out of the EU and able to revert to the previous regulations.

I haven't seen the item you refer to but its existence suggests that NR has finally kept its promise to release more info, so there'll probably now be items in other publications.

For what it's worth, for those who know the area (I don't) the same report in TR stated the problematic bridges were College Road/Bridge Street overpass at Rotherham Central, and Drummond Street bridge.

For Drummond Street, read Greasbrough Road.
College Road/Bridge Street is the bridge hard by the station building, and Greasbrough Road is the next bridge towards Swinton.

I always wondered how those in The Netherlands refererred to Rotherham...now I know...:D
