Hi all

I'm going into Sheffield on Saturday and the Plusbus site is giving confusing me. Its probably me getting unnecessarily worried. It says:

A Sheffield PLUSBUS ticket gives you unlimited bus & tram travel on participating operators’ services, throughout South Yorkshire, including Sheffield city, as defined by the travel zone diagram and the street map (below).

It gives a zone map of this:
http://www.plusbus.info/sites/default/files/pdfs/Sheffield (SY).pdf

You'd think Sheffield plusbus would only be valid in the city itself,

But this travel zone diagram shows you can travel across South Yorks.
http://data.client.itoworld.com/plusbus/stations/SHEFFLD.html

The facts there are two maps and the fact its only £2.50 with a Y-P to travel unlimited in such a huge zone makes me feels its too good to be true?

Anyone clarify either way :| its probably me having one of those moments... :D

It's valid for the whole of South Yorkshire. I believe all the PTE plusbus systems work the same way.

As it says on the site:

plusbus said:

It doesn't help that the Zone map is incomplete, but the boundary clearly does not finish immediately North of Sheffield.

This does mean that your origin has to be outside of South Yorkshire.

D'oh!

I've been buying a Day Rider for the tram all this time for £4 when I could just be buying a Plusbus extension to my Wakefield to Sheffield train ticket for £2.50!

(The term 'Plusbus' being a bit misleading if it includes the tram!)

Can I get Plusbus added to my train ticket on board Northern Rail from the conductor (As I board at a unstaffed station)

I'm sure the EMT Guard will be happy to sell it to you.

I wouldn't be nearly so sure. Many on the Mainline side will leave the Avantix in their office and are unhappy using it under any circumstances.
