it is january 28th 29th 30th if dates needed.

lets just say the station we use is garsdale on S&C

is there any ticket that covers this or can they only get a open return from sheffield to leeds and day return from leeds to garsdale on saturday seperately?

Open returns don't exist anymore. An "anytime return" from Sheffield to Garsdale via Leeds is £23.30. The outward portion is valid on any of the first five days and return is allowed within a month. If you use the outward portion after the first day of validity then you may well be asked to show the unused return portion.

Hope that helps.

No problems re the name. Yes, you can break either journey as many times as you want provided you don't repeat any section. You have 5 days to complete the outward bit and up to a month from the start to complete the return.
