I’m sure I could have fitted this into some other thread mentioning integrated transport but I couldn’t really find one quite appropriate.
Low and High Bradfield are two rural villages on the western extremity of Sheffield. They are served by half-hourly buses, 61 and 62 that run from Sheffield-Hillsborough-Loxley then one runs High Bradfield to Low Bradfield and back to Loxley, the other does the reverse.
The buses are operated by TM Travel, which I think implies they are subsidised. The point is, I’m sure these services only ran to Hillsborough a few years ago, but now they run all the way into Sheffield. Today, coming back from Low Bradfield we could have easily got on a tram at Hillsborough - there were only four on the bus.
I wonder why it changed? Protests from the users who resented either having to change vehicles or perhaps having to buy another ticket (Supertram is operated by Stagecoach)? We had a South Yorkshire Connect ticket which we could have used on both. In any case, it certainly increased the number of buses needed on the service from two to three. Any ideas?
