Sheffield - Hexham (to split, or not to split)

Hi

I'm travelling Sheffield - Hexham tomorrow (Friday) and coming back on Sunday.

Does anyone know off-hand whether it's worth splitting at Doncaster/ York (e.g. if East Coast priced fares are cheaper than XC-priced ones?

Sheffield - Hexham SVR £58.00 - they're having a laugh!

Sheffield - York SOR £18.80 isn't bad
York - Hexham SSR £40.10 is appauling

You could get GC if timings suit (slow journey but adds interest from an enthusiast perspective!)

York - Hartlepool SOR (GC only) 13.00
Hartlepool - Hexham SOR 14.60

This does save around £13 though.

Freedom of North East 4 in 8 is £75. If it's going to cost you around £50-60 just to get to Hexham, it's worth getting the rover and doing some other journeys, to avoid being completely ripped-off!

I'd get the rover if I could do other journeys, or go with GC.
