I'm thinking of going from Stockport to Sheffield on the 27/12, is this wise? I can see the first train is at 11.54, and coming back around 6 the trains with East Midlands and TPE are around 10 and 40 past the hour, are these likely to be cancelled? My normal back up plan of Northern is no longer operating

You can't rely on Transpennine actually running to/from Sheffield I'm afraid. Unless essential, I wouldn't bother trying.
